The career of Alessio Cerci took a dramatic nosedive after signing for Atletico Madrid. The Italian, who had broken onto the scene after his performances for Itlay at the 2014 World Cup, lasted just half a season before being sent out on loan to AC Milan, where his arrival was part of a move to bring Torres to Atleti.
It was the beginning of the end for the player, who every year seems to fall a little bit further from the level he was at for Torino. After Milan, he played for Genoa and returned to Atletica to run out his contract before leaving as a free agent in 2016/17.
Apart from 43 minutes in his final season, he never played and instead became a meme during his time at the Calderón.
After that disastrous deal, Cerci began his decline at Hellas Verona, Ankara in Turkey, and the Salernitana in Serie B for the 2018/19 season.
Now he's taken another step down and will play for Arezzo, another small club but this time in Serie C. They believe that they can still get the best out of Cerci. Will this be the last stop for the journeyman?
