Sevilla and Ramon Rodriguez 'Monchi' have reached an agreement on Thursday to terminate his contract at the club. It will cost just over €3 million for him to join English club Aston Villa, sources have told 'EFE'.
The Spanish club, who learnt of Monchi's intentions to make move 10 days ago, will make the announcement official very soon. He has been with the club since he returned from AS Roma in 2019.
The talks to end the contract have been labourious, as his claim was that Sevilla would waive the compensation stipulated if he left to sign for another club, as is the case, without respecting the 2-year sabbatical that entailed a free termination.
The same sources confirmed to 'EFE' that Aston Villa will be responsible for the €2.5 million required to terminate the contract, and Monchi will pay €600,000 additionally for failure to comply with the notice period.
The second chapter of the sporting director's career at Sevilla was fruitful, as it saw Sevilla qualify four times for the Champions League and win another two Europa League titles.
