Barca are working against the clock to successfully conclude the necessary negotiations ahead of the 2021-22 season. Leo Messi's departure, a major setback, is now a fact and the Argentine is very close to being confirmed as a new PSG player.
But that is not the only bad news for the Catalans. According to 'Que T'hi Jugues' on 'Cadena SER', Barcelona still have a lot to do to be able to play Depay, Eric Garcia and Aguero. If there is no important departure or salary reduction from here until the end of the week, Ronald Koeman will not be able to use any of his new signings against Real Sociedad.
"At the club they are expecting there to be a pay cut or a sale in order to register the signings," journalist Sique Rodriguez said. "If there is no movement, Barcelona will not be able to register them," he continued.
These comments contradict those given by Joan Laporta during the ceremony in which he explained Leo Messi's departure. The Barcelona president hinted that the signings could be registered without problems ahead of the new season, but there are doubts.
It is worth remembering that Barca would still have time to register their new footballers before the end of the transfer market although they would not be able to play any competitive fixtures.
There is the possibility, therefore of Barcelona making their debut this season in La Liga against Real Sociedad with a team full of footballers who were there last season. Then, as players reduce their salaries or leave, the new footballers will be able to take over.
Although their situation has attracted more attention than the others, the problem is not exclusively a Barcelona one. Another 14 La Liga teams are still unable to sign new players when there are just three days to go ahead of the La Liga season.
