He managed to beat the likes of David De Gea, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Keylor Navas to getting nominated for The Best goalkeper award.
However, Puel thinks Kaspar Schmeichel deserved to go a step further and be crowned the best in his position at the awards, ahead of Thibaut Courtois who was chosen for the honour instead.
"Schmeichel I think perhaps deserved to finish the best goalkeeper from the world, he had a good season" the French coach told reporters.
Despite this admission, Puel would not go as far to say that his shot stopper was the best in world football, but said that he had the potential to be so.
The Danish international signed a new long-term contract with the 'Foxes' last month, and will hope to show he can reach the top of the goalkeeping world in a Leicester shirt.
