AC Milan's president, Paolo Scaroni, asked the 'Rossoneri' fans to show some respect towards Donnarumma ahead of Italy's clash against Spain in the Nations League semi-final. His signing for PSG wasn't taken in a good way by the fans and Milan's manager, Stefano Pioli, tried to describe the situation as something natural in football to 'Il Giornale'.
"Gigio gave everything for Milan until his very last game and the club protected him and paid him until his last day at the club. President Scarioni had to intervene ahead of the Spain match asking the supporters to not boo him. Then is when passion and feelings come in. The great relationship the fans and the player have is founded on love, but also a lot of pain", he claimed.
When asked about his AC Milan contract, the manager did not want to confirm whether he will stay or leave at the end of his contract: "In my head, the contract never expires. I have a great relationship with Maldini and Massara. I am doing a great job at Milanello (the Milan training ground) and the three of us share the same goals".
"I already saw a positive change in January 2020, when Ibra and Kjaer arrived to the club. During the COVID quarantine, we had lots of time to bond. When we arrived back at Milanello, even though the group is divided in four, we all felt like we knew each other better", he said.
