Saul claims Atletico didn't deserve second UCL heartbreak

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul believes his side were undeserving of another tough blow after they lost another Champions League final to Real Madrid on Saturday.
For the second time in three years Atletico Madrid came agonisingly close to winning the Champions League, but fell just short to city rivals Real Madrid, this time losing 5-3 on penalties.
Real took the lead through Sergio Ramos in the first half, but after the break Atletico came out looking like the more threatening side. After four minutes of the second half they had earnt a penalty which to the dismay of every Atletico fan, Griezmann smashed against the crossbar. Atletico kept pressing and 12 minutes from time Yannick Carrasco managed to get the teams level and take the game to extra time. No team could find a breakthrough in extra time and the tie had to go all the way to penalties. Real went first and slotted the first four, before Altetico's fourth kicker Juanfran hit his strike against the woodwork. Ronaldo stepped up and slotted home the winner to gift Real with their 11th European crown.
Speaking after the game, Saul said: "It is very painful. This dressing room does not deserve this to happen twice. It was a very intense game, we were all dead out there."
However, the 21-year-old has tipped his side to bounce back next season, and is adamant they won't give up until they win their maiden crown.
"Next season, we are ready for the Champions League, the league and everything but our ambitions are always on a game-by-game basis," he added.
"[We will] fight for the Champions League until we get it."
