The Italian was renowned for his smoking of cigarettes on touchlines in Serie A, and reports have suggested Sarri got through around five packs each day in Naples.
With smoking being possibly more of an issue in the United Kingdom, criticism has been directed towards the habits of the Chelsea manager.
Speaking to 'Il Mattino', Sarri said: "When my father learned I had this offer, he told me to go to London, that it was the right thing to do.
"He did ask me to stop smoking at least while I'm here. He is the only one who for five minutes can make me wobble in my convictions."
Smoking is prohibited inside English football grounds, hence Sarri has been pictured using plastic cigarette filters at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have made an impressive start to the season, with four wins from four so far in the league.
