Arsenal defender William Saliba is suffering from back injury and is not recovering as his club had hoped. The Frenchman has already missed seven games and is expected to be unavailable for the match against Newcastle.
"He’s feeling better every single day but he’s still not been able to have any activity around the first-team, so we don’t expect him to be with us at Newcastle," Arteta told reporters.
However, the Gunners are not ruling him out for the rest of the season: "We are always hopeful and players are always pushing to play but if that is the case then we will announce that. Hopefully that will not be the case," the coach added.
Moreover, Mikel Arteta provided an update on Gabriel Magalhaes' ankle injury. The 26-year-old had to be substituted in the 3-1 win over Chelsea.
"We'll have to see tomorrow how he is, but he could not finish the game [against Chelsea] so that was obviously a big sign for us and we'll have to see how he is tomorrow," concluded the Spaniard.
