Luis Suarez needs time to think. He has not decided what to do after 30th June, the date when his contract ends with Atletico. The player will not renew his deal and will look for a new club, but at the moment he has not decided between the different offers on the table.
River Plate have shown their interest and Suarez has responded that he needs a few days to mull over his decision. He does not want to rush.
Marcelo Gallardo admitted that he had a chat with Suarez after the 0-0 draw against Atletico Tucuman: "I spoke with Suarez, we have a good relationship. I respect him as a player and person. I asked him what he was going to do with his life, if he wanted to come to a club that can give him lots of chances to compete and reach his long awaited World Cup".
Gallardo did not talk about Suarez's response. "We need to be patient... It is difficult to talk about a possibility which we aren't sure even exists. Only that the club is interested. The player is weighing up his options and is considering them. It's not up to us. We have to wait and see what possibilities there are when the player announces his decision" he added.
Jorge Brito, River's president also talked about the striker. Like Gallardo, in an interview with 'Ole', he said that "it's an issue that has to do with his decision". The transfer window in Europe does not close until the end of August, but the CEO made it clear that the Argentine club need an answer before then: "I imagine that he has to see what happens in the long European market, but we cannot wait for that long".
Brito did not want to talk about the Uruguayan any more. He said that, as a rule, he doesn't want to give anything away with his answers to these types of questions. "I never talk about negotiations with players" he said.
