Luis Suarez leaves Atletico Madrid. It is no longer a possibility: it is a reality. Days after it came to light that he had rejected a final offer to renew his contract, his sporting decline has led him to make the match against Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano the last time he will play at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The Spanish club confirmed their striker's farewell by posting a message on Twitter in which they announced that the game against Lopetegui's side at home would be a tribute to both him and Hector Herrera. It had already been made official that the Mexican would be leaving the club to sign for Houston Dynamo.
"At the end of the match, the Wanda Metropolitano will pay tribute to Luis Suarez and Hector Herrera, who are bidding farewell to the Atletico fans. After the end of the match, don't get up from your seats because we will experience a very special moment," reads the text posted by Atletico. It didn't take long for the fans to take notice.
Suarez's farewell, interestingly, had been 'leaked' by Rodrigo de Paul shortly before on the same day. He posted an image with the striker sharing a mate over the message: "The last one at home, let's send you off in style like you deserve! Come on, goal scorer". He attached four emoticons: two of applause and two hearts, one red and one white.
