Reyna trades Dortmund for Gladbach chasing 'new chapter'

German tabloid 'Bild' reported Gladbach paid up to seven million euros ($8 million) for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, with Dortmund securing a 15 percent sell-on clause.
Reyna thanked Dortmund, saying he was looking forward to a "new chapter" at Gladbach. Once considered the United States' next great footballing hope, Reyna's career has stalled at Dortmund, as he struggled with injuries and a lack of game time.Â
Last season, Reyna played 26 times in all competitions, scoring twice, but only five of those appearances were starts.
"We have a long history with Gio", Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said in a statement, adding "unfortunately his development in recent season has not progressed as hoped.
In total, Reyna played 106 times for Dortmund in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 times. Deployed as either a forward, winger or an attacking midfielder, Reyna has played 32 times, scoring eight goals for the United States.Â
