Referee who kicked player in French League sees ban extended

It's rare you see players truly kick-out on a football pitch, and virtually unheard of for a referee do it... But when Nantes player Diego Carlos accidentally tripped up referee Tony Chapron, the latter couldn't have but have a pop. 

With camera's covering every corner of football pitches these days, there was no way Chapron would get away with this. Swinging his leg round, the referee delivered a punt-like blow to Carlos' shin, earning him the joke title of 'UFC fighter' on his Wikipedia page. 

What's even more shocking, is that Chapron then proceeded to rub salt in Carlos' wounds, to showing him a red card and creating quite a drama on the pitch. 

According to French news outlet 'Dauphine Libere,' Chapron has been sanctioned with an eight month ban from officiating. With this suspension, it is unlikely the referee will ever feature in Ligue 1 again, having planned his retirement for the end of this season.
