'El Chiringuito' claims that the Spanish champions have set their sights on Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season.
A little over a week ago, Spurs made the trip to the Bernabeu in the Champions League and came away with a creditable 1-1 draw. The game allowed Real to run the rule over several Spurs players and whilst they have admitted that a deal for Harry Kane would be almost impossible to get over the line, a move for Alderweireld may be more realistic.
The Belgian passed his audition with flying colours as Spurs turned in a dogged defensive performance and he now features highly on Zidane's shorlist of potential defensive recruits.
The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the finest defenders in the Premier League since joining Spurs from Atletico Madrid back in 2015 and has been an integral part of the Tottenham side that has enjoyed a fine start to the season, having started 12 games in all competitions.
Spurs are not currently looking to sell on of their star players but with the player's contract due to expire in 18 months' time and with talks over a new one stalling, they could be forced to cash in next summer and if that is the case, Real will be at the front of the queue.
Zidane will have the chance to run the rule over the Blgian international once again when the two sides meet in the reverse fixture at Wembley Champions League next week.
