Ramos: 'Lopetegui? Spain must be above any name'

It was a turbulent 24 hours for the Spanish national team which saw head coach Julen Lopetegui sacked for his underhand negotiations with Real Madrid, before being replaced by former player Fernando Hierro.
Addressing the situation, Ramos was clear: "You have to turn the page as soon as possible and it has not been a pleasant time.
"Julen has been part of all this. Regardless of any personal assessment, Spain must be above any name. The sooner we leave this, the better for everyone".
Turning his attention to Spain's new coach and the tournament, Ramos added: "We all admire Hierro. We have known him for a long time and he is the ideal replacement for this moment.
"Tomorrow the World Cup begins [for us]. We have a great game against the European champions. I hope we start on the right foot".
Ramos was also asked about the threat of Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who he plays alongside at Madrid.
He replied: "I would prefer to have Cristiano on our side, and not against. He is a constant danger and Portugal have a very complete squad".
Spain face Portugal in Sochi on Friday at 20:00 (CET).
