The decision to appoint Anthony Taylor as the lead official for the Manchester Derby on Sunday has caused widespread controversy.
Wythenshawe born Taylor has never officiated the derby between the two main clubs from his home city, and while he claims not to support either side, his appointment has caused much debate.
Manchester City supporters have been left infuriated at the decision to appoint Taylor, who's home town is merely six miles away from rivals United's Old Trafford stadium.
However the Premier League have spoken out in defence of their decision, stating that they are satisfied that they made the correct choice for such a high profile fixture.
According to 'Sky Sports News', the Premier League are content with their decision, in spite of having three other referees with experince of officiating the fixture, Martin Atkinson, Micheal Oliver and Andre Marriner.
