Nicolas Pepe put his name in the hat to win the goal of the season award in the Premier League matchday 35 clash between Arsenal and West Brom. Just after the half hour, he shot from the edge of the box to beat the keeper with a precise and powerful shot.
He drove the ball into space and beat Johnstone. The goalkeeper got his right hand to it, the ball had too much power on it and it went into the back of the net. That put the Gunners 2-0 up and was the perfect response to the Europa League exit on Thursday.
A few minutes earlier, Smith-Rowe had opened the scoring for the hosts. He went forward and did the defence with his dummies before beating the goalie.
Pepe's goal was his 12th this season and proving why Arsenal signed him from Lille. Despite not scoring as many goals as what he was doing at Ligue 1, he will continue to be an important member of the Arsenal team if he keeps going like this.
