Former footballer Edson Arantes de Nascimento 'Pele' on Thursday congratulated Brazilian striker Rodrygo on his brace that put Real Madrid into the Champions League final and said he is an "enlightened man" who is still going to "bring a lot of joy".
"I always knew the day to congratulate you would come, my friend. There is no other way for those who work hard and love what they do. You are enlightened and you will still bring us many joys," Pele said in a post on his Instagram account, along with a photo with the young Brazilian wearing a Brazil national team shirt.
The man considered by many to be the greatest player of the 20th century also congratulated Real Madrid after their 3-1 extra-time comeback win over Manchester City, with Rodrygo scoring a brace a minute into stoppage time and Karim Benzema scoring a penalty in extra time.
"Congratulations, Real Madrid. I can't wait to watch the final," Pele added.
After Wednesday's win over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, Real Madrid will face Liverpool on May 28th in Paris.
