This is Ozil's Arsenal idol

Mesut Ozil revealed in an interview with 'Arsenal Player' who his idol is.

The German looks up to Peer Mertesacker. Mertesacker joined Arsenal in 2011 from Werder Bremen and inspires his compatriot, who joined Arsenal in 2013.

The two Germans played already at Bremen together and met each other in Arsenal again. Ozil told 'Arsenal Player': "I’ve known Per for a while, because we’ve played together in Bremen, for the national team and here too.

"I can only say positives about him. He gives everything for the team, not just for himself, but for everyone," he said.

He hailed him by saying: "Off the pitch, he watches the games and comes into the dressing room. He’s just a role model and we’re pleased to have him here. I want him to get fit again and back on the pitch as quickly as possible".

Furthermore he hopes that the injured Mertesacker returns soon onto the pitch.
