Victor Osimhen has only been in Italian football for two years. The Nigerian international joined Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020. Since then, he has made 34 official appearances and has found the net 13 times.
But it is his numbers this season that are attracting particular attention. So far this season, Osimhen has managed to score three goals in just four official matches, a great performance that Gianfranco Zola wanted to talk about.
Speaking to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', the former Italian striker commented: "When he arrived in Italy two years ago I didn't know him very well and I did some research. I discovered a great player. His physical strength makes him a devastating player. He is the heir to Lukaku. He is also young and has a huge room for improvement.
"I want to be cautious, because we are only on matchday four, but Napoli are showing signs of strength and quality. This team is more complete than Sarri's, which, at times, played spectacular football. Spalletti has more resources. The bench is excellent. Napoli are strong in all lines. They have a top level attack with Osimhen, Insigne and Politano. In midfield they have quality and the athletic power of Zielinski, Fabian and Anguisa. The defence is solid, and Ospina and Meret are reliable goalkeepers. I can't find any weaknesses," said Zola.
