Funes Mori was widely expected to be one of the victims of new manager Marco Silva's overhaul this summer and so it has poroved, with the Argentine signing a four-year deal with the 'Yellow Submarine'.
The defender was a popular figure among Everton fans, but a serious knee injury restricted him to just four Premier League appearances last season, whilst the signings of Ashley williams and Michael Keane in recent years have slowly forced him further down the pecking order at Goodison Park.
The Argentina international joined Everton from River Plarte in 2015, going on to make 67 appearances for the Merseyside outfit.
Middlesbrough and Monterrey had both been linked with moves for Funes Mori, but it is Villarreal who have won the race for his signature.
Funes Mori beocmes Villarreal's third signing of the summer following the aquisitions of Toko Ekambi and Gerard Moreno.
