BREAKING NEWS: Fernando Torres signs one-year contract with Atlético Madrid

The 32-year- old started at Atletico Madrid when he was 11 years old and played first at the age if 17 in a match against the club Leganes. Now he is returning to the club where he wrote history and was one of the stars. He played for Atletico when they reached the Champions League final or the penultimate round in La Liga.

"I'm delighted to continue at home, the only place where I ever wanted to be, and it has finally come true," he declared.

"[I am] happy to be here. I've never had doubts about where I wanted to be during all this process in which we didn't know what was going to happen and, in the end, what matters is that I have achieved what I was expecting."

Also the sporting director Jose Luis Caminero admits that he is more than happy to have Torres back:

"He is a man with a tremendous experience, used to winning titles and competing at the highest level."

"Great news for everyone, since Fernando is part of the family and all the Atleticos are delighted with the fact that he can continue with us."
