OFFICIAL: Bellingham's 'f*ck off' leads to 2-game ban

Jude Bellingham has been punished. The Real Madrid midfielder has been handed a two-match ban for the red card he received last weekend against Osasuna, in which he said ‘f*ck off’ to Munuera Montero.

Bellingham has been suspended for 2 matches for "contemptuous and inconsiderate attitudes towards referees, officials or sporting authorities, with an additional fine in application of article 52 CF (Article 124)."

According to the Competition Committee, Real Madrid claimed that the British player said "f*ck off" instead of "f*ck you", as described by Munuera Montero first to the players and then in the referee's report, requesting the invalidity of the disciplinary sanction.

The club assured in its written statement that, beyond the fact that he did not say the words referred to by Munuera Montero in the referee's report, Competition has already retracted another sanction against Bellingham in January 2024 when he said "one, two, three, four f*ck", as well as showing Cristiano Ronaldo's words in 2018, arguing that this expression is ‘commonly used’ in England ‘"without this entailing any disciplinary sanction by the referees as it is not an offensive or contemptuous expression".

The Competition Committee alleges that the evidence referred to by Real Madrid does not show the exact moment when he says ‘f*ck off’ and not "f*ck you", as the referee considers. Secondly, he talks about the case of January 2024, in which he assures that ‘it allows us to reach precisely the same conclusion’, since at that moment it was possible to see what he says.

Therefore, "it understands that the facts contained in the report are subsumable in the offence typified in article 124 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code, and it is appropriate to impose, taking into account the different tactical circumstances that are invoked, the sanction foreseen in said precept in its minimum degree, of 2 matches".
