Newcastle targeting Chelsea's Gallagher to bolster their midfield

Newcastle want to strengthen their midfield for next season and they are "keen on Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher", according to the 'Daily Mail'.

The 23-year-old is not getting many chances in Frank Lampard's side as he has only started 15 competitive matches in the Premier League this season. As a result, the Magpies are keeping an eye on his situation.

Chelsea could listen to offers for the Englishman because they signed Enzo Fernandez, who won the World Cup with Argentina, in January, and they also have other key midfielders in the squad such as Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante.

The same media outlet reports that Eddie Howe is interested in signing him but he also thinks Leicester playmaker James Maddison could be a good reinforcement for his squad.
