Mourinho willing to pay the release clause of Jordi Alba

The release clause of Jordi Alba stands at €150 million, but this does not seem to be an issue for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United. The 'Red Devils' will stop at nothing to sign him.

The Portuguese coach is far from happy with his squad. He firmly belives that his defence needs to be reinforced in the winter transfer window with both a left back and centre half.

Jordi Alba's name is nailed to the top of the wishlist. According to 'The Sun', the 'Blaugrana' left back is the key target of Mourinho, who wants to bolster his team for the second half of the current campaign.

Currently, Luke Shaw occupies the left back berth at Old Trafford. The alternative options of Blind, Rojo, Darmian and Ashley Young have been tried without much success. 

Additionally, the timing seems to be perfect for the 'Red Devils'. Barcelona are in no hurry to renew the Spaniard's contract, with the player starting to become tired with the state of his career in Catalonia, and so it would not be totally unlikely for the player to move to the Premier League.

Negotiations between Alba and the Catalans have been postponed until next summer, at which point he will only have one year left on his contract. United are sat in waiting for Barcelona to slip up.
