Barcelona have not given up in their bid to sign Lautaro Martinez even though it is not financially viable. The option of Depay is present and they are making progress on that, but the first on the list was always the Argentinian striker.
In Italy, 'Corriere dello Sport', said that Lautaro's agents would travel from Argentina to Milan to talk to Inter. Nevertheless, before that, they would go to Barcelona to talk to the club.
However, 'Mundo Deportivo' gives a different version of events this Friday. According to the Catalan media outlet, Barca are unaware of this idea from the player's agents and they say no meeting has been arranged with them.
Although the board want Lautaro, Messi's teammate for Argentina, the board say they cannot sign him if they do not make some important sales. They need to balance the books first.
In the meantime, the Italian outfit want to renew the striker and the sporting director Javier Zanetti ruled out his departure. "Lautaro is not leaving Inter," the legendary former Argentinian footballer told 'Fox Sports' at the start of the week.
"As of today, there are no negotiations going on," Zanetti said. In Barcelona, it looks like the club's financial situation is preventing them from buying him.
