Marko Grujic is on the way back to Porto and he is the latest player to join Sergio Conceicao's men. The Serbian international midfielder, 25, moves to Porto on loan from Liverpool, like last season, but now with a compulsory purchase clause.
In the 2020-21 season, Grujic made 39 appearances and scored two goals at the Do Dragao. Just after arriving, the midfielder seemed "very happy" to play for Porto again and he made sure he did "everything he could" to return to Porto. Porto are looking to regain the title which Sporting won last term.
"Our first main objective is to win the championship. We know what this means for our fans, but we will also for the rest of the trophies," Marko Grujic, who will once again wear the number 16 shirt.
He has played for Serbia on eight occasions and Grujic was born in Belgrade and he came through the Red Star Belgrade academy. At the age of 19, he left the Croatian capital to go to Liverpool and, since then, he has gone on loan to Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin. In two seasons in Germany, the powerful midfielder who is 1.91 metres tall, has made 51 Bundesliga appearances and scored nine goals in the Bundesliga.
"I felt there was a fantastic atmosphere between the club and the fans. Of course I know that Porto are a great club, the great history they have and the many trophies they have won. From the first day I left Porto, I received messages from fans asking me to return. They showed lots of affection for me and they offered me a lot of support, something I could not ignore," the Serbian explained.
