Marcelo: Ronaldo's doubters should watch the derby again

Until Saturday night, many suggested that Ronaldo may have been past his best after starting the season relatively poorly by his standards.

After averaging over a goal per game last season, the Real Madrid man had managed 'just' seven goals in 12 games. However, there's no doubting that the former Manchester United star was back to his best in the Madrid derby, scoring a hat-trick against rivals Atletico.

After the match, Madrid defender Marcelo backed his team-mate, saying that you "can never doubt" Ronaldo.

"You can never doubt Cristiano and those who do can watch the match again and look at what he did," he told 'Movistar Plus'.

Meanwhile, fellow full-back Dani Carvajal also backed the Portuguese forward and said that Ronaldo deserves to win the Ballon d'Or.

"I hope he wins the Ballon d'Or, I think he deserves it," said the Spain international. "He gave another exhibition [on Saturday]".
