Erling Haaland is shining at Man City. He has scored 23 goals and provided three assists in 18 matches. They are stats which make him a top striker, the man to follow in the Premier League.
The striker's agent Rafaela Pimenta believes that the footballer deserves what he is going through although he fears it could affect his career. "It's very nice. I understand the attention, the curiosity that arises, but I hope that when there is nothing to stay, things aren't made up. It's over the top. They always look for easy clicks," he said in an interview with 'Marca'.
"You have to protect Haaland, he's very young and he has to grow. He has to be in the news because of his goals and his play. He doesn't want for other things to come out and for controversies to be invented," he continued.
The agent did not clarify whether Haaland had a departure clause in his Man City contract: "If we don't say anything, it will probably be misinterpreted and if we say something, it probably will be as well. As a lawyer I know that I cannot say anything, but I also know that I don't say it, they're going to say something."
On the star's future, he said that they do not have a strategy planned. "We have a project for each player, but there are variables which we don't control. 20 years ago, we drew up a plan with a Brazilian player and he had five serious injuries. Things did not work out. With Haaland, we've had a project from the beginning and it's working. And it's still working. Whatever happens, the future's uncertain. Everything can change," he pointed out.
Unfortunately, Norway are not in the 2022 World Cup. Therefore, we will not be able to enjoy Haaland in action. Haaland is one of the main absences of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
