Man Utd have the ingredients 'to succeed', says Amorim

It looked as if the fortunes of a lacklustre Manchester United would change when Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, but the Portuguese manager's impact has not been as significant as United fans had hoped.
The former Sporting Lisbon boss has recorded four wins, six defeats and one draw in his first 11 games in charge of the Red Devils, having suffered three consecutive defeats in his last three matches.
However, the Old Trafford outfit can end 2024 on a high if they beat Newcastle on Monday, and Amorim has sent out a message of confidence ahead of the game against the Magpies, stressing the importance of taking things "one step at a time" and remaining confident in the project, with the Portuguese believing they have "the ingredients to succeed".
"When I took on this role at Man United, I knew I was taking on a significant amount of work. If we are to deliver the long-term changes we want for Man United, we need to take it step by step," he added.
"I have seen enough in recent weeks to recognise that we have many of the ingredients needed to succeed. I remain as confident as I was on my first day here that we will get there. In the meantime, it is my responsibility to remain calm.
