Man City's Rodri thinks he needs marketing to win a 'Ballon d'Or'

Rodri Hernández was the protagonist in 'El Partidazo de COPE'. The Manchester City midfielder said that he does not see himself winning the Ballon d'Or because of the lack of marketing in his opinion. The second captain of the Spanish national team believes that the award will go to Leo Messi ahead of Erling Haaland.

"After all, this is what individual awards are like. I'm 27 years old and I've lived through the golden age of footballers in my country and I know that sporting merit is highly valued, but it's also an award with a lot of marketing. I'm aware of the type of player I am and next to the monsters I'm up there with, of course I'm still lacking", he confessed to journalist Juanma Castaño.

Rodri Hernández mentioned the figure of Sergio Busquets, whose level he wants to get closer to: "I've been 5-6 years with him and I have to look and feel better than him. I wanted to be better than him and I want to be better than him. What I did was look up to him and absorb him. You are talking about the best pivot of all time. Getting close to that level will be good. We'll see when I'm 34 because it's not easy.
