Mainoo back in training as Amorim considers midfielder for Lyon showdown

Kobbie Mainoo has been sidelined since February after picking up a muscle injury during a training session. Although there had been hope of a return for last weekend's Manchester derby, the fixture ultimately came too soon for the 19-year-old.
Speaking in the build-up to the European tie, Amorim confirmed that the No.37 is now back in training and being carefully managed. "Kobbie [Mainoo] is training with us," he said. "We want to be cautious with our players, but there's a chance he'll be part of the squad."
The Portuguese boss also addressed the situation surrounding Harry Maguire, who was substituted just before the hour mark in the derby. He clarified that the defender's limited minutes were pre-agreed with the medical staff.
"Harry had a 60-minute limit from the medical department, so he's fit and ready," he explained. "It wasn't due to injury — it was just a precaution. We can't afford more setbacks, so we're managing players carefully ahead of a crucial match on Thursday."
