Madrid, 27 years without losing at home in the quarters

The Spanish giants have gone 27 years without losing at the Bernabeu in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, chaining together eleven consecutive victories in the process.
In fact, their last defeat at home at this stage was on March 20, 1991, when they fell to Spartak Moscow 3-1 and were subsequently eliminated from the competition after drawing 0-0 in Russia.
A brace by Dmitri Radchenko and a third by Valeriy Shmarov were enough to break 'Los Blancos' resistance after Hugo Sanchez's bicycle-kick effort crashed onto the crossbar.
However, with a three-goal advantage over Juventus going into Wednesday's second fixture, none of their three defeats in 34 quarter-final matches would eliminate this current Madrid side.
In addition to the defeat to Spartak, they have suffered a 2-0 loss to Inter Milan in 1966-67 and a slim 1-0 one to Juventus in 1961-62.
