Setback for the Spanish national team. The Spanish football federation has confirmed that Luis Enrique will miss the Euro 2020 qualifier away to Malta this Tuesday. "We inform of the absence of our coach Luis Enrique Martínez in the match tonight due to family reasons of 'force majeure'," reads the statement.
The RFEF, which has not released further details on these personal issues has announced that number two, Robert Moreno, will take over coaching duties for the clash against the Maltese. Moreno was also Luis Enrique's deputy at Roma, Celta and Barcelona.
Furthermore, in the same statement, the RFEF has asked for respect and for the coach and his inner circle's privacy to be respected at this moment in time which has forced him to leave the Spain camp.
