Max Meyer left Schalke to join Crystal Palace this summer, where Loftus-Cheek spent an impressive loan spell last season that earned him a place in the England squad for the World Cup in Russia.
Now, Schalke want a replacement for Meyer and have registered interest with Chelsea in taking the midfielder on loan to do that, but the player himself will turn down the offer according to the 'Guardian'.
The 'Blues' already had stiff competition in the middle of the park with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, N'Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and Jorginho among their ranks, but it became even more competitive when Mateo Kovacic was brought in on loan from Real Madrid on deadline day.
Despite the immense challenge ahead of him to try and earn a place in the side on a regular basis, the 22 year-old is willing to stay in west London to prove to Maurizio Sarri that he deserves his chance.
