Midfielders are the hot ticket for several Premier League teams this summer. Arsenal have made them a priority, breaking the bank to sign West Ham's Declan Rice, and Chelsea are after young talent to replace Mason Mount, who looks almost guaranteed for a move to Man United.
They're not the only ones though. Liverpool have already brought in two new midfield talents: Alexis Mac Allister signed early in the window from Brighton, and Dominik Szoboszlai was announced on Sunday from RB Leipzig. They don't look to be slowing down however.
The Reds are now turning their attention to another young talent, Southampton's Romeo Lavia. Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that despite their two midfield acquisitions, Liverpool remain interested in the 19-year-old.
The Gunners are interested as they potentially face the departure of their two midfield mainstays, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey, meaning they would need a second signing alongside Rice to shore up their engine room.
'TalkSPORT' now report that the Reds are planning to try and get a jump on Arsenal and Chelsea, however by making an opening bid for the Belgian. Relegated Southampton reportedly value Lavia at £50 million, who made 34 appearances for the Saints this season.
