Few strikers have their sights set as high this year as Robert Lewandowski. The top scorer in the Bundesliga, above Timo Werner, is close to breaking his own record.
The Pole has scored 35 goals in just 29 games, a record that is within the grasp of very few players. Lewandowski has scored more than one goal per game and, with several months to go, he may well break his record.
Lewandowski's best goalscoring campaign was 2016-17. At that time, the striker reached 43 goals in 47 games played. More goals, but a worse average.
In the last four seasons, Lewandowski has always scored 40 goals, all of them at Bayern Munich, a figure he has within reach with four months of the competition still to come.
If he continues to score with his current average, Lewandowski will crown his best season as a striker and could even win the Golden Boot, provided Immobile, Cristiano or Messi let him.
