The winger has been in such good form in recent weeks that he has earned a recall to the Argentine national squad, even if Lionel Messi won't be included after taking a break from international football.
He continued his good run of form with a goal against Wolves to help his side to a 3-2 win, but with the return of Dele Alli from injury his place in the side could be in danger.
Keane thinks that regardless of Alli's fitness, the former Roma man deserves to be playing based on his impressive form at the moment.
"He was fantastic, Lamela. In the past few weeks he has been one of their outstanding players." the Irishman told 'Sky Sports'
"I think it has continued from last season, the game against Leicester when he scored a double. His form has carried on since then, he has been brilliant.
"If he puts in performances like that, and carries on like that, why not keep players like Dele out of the team?"
