Jurgen Klopp's frustrated signings

Jurgen Klopp is taking advantage of his break from the dugout to take part in projects that go beyond the top flight. The now global director of football at Red Bull took part in the anniversary ceremony of Hout Bay United Football Community in Cape Town. In South Africa, he took the opportunity to highlight the two major frustrated signings of his career.
The first of them: Heung-Min Son. The Tottenham player, during his time at Hamburg, could have joined Borussia Dortmund. In the end, he opted for Bayer Leverkusen before moving to the Premier League. “I could have signed him. At the time, he was at Hamburg. I don't even remember why the signing didn't happen. Just facing him in the Premier League I thought: 'My God, you're stupid not to sign him'. It's crazy,” the German stressed.
The second: Kevin de Bruyne. “It was very close. He crushed us in the cup final with Wolfsburg.” Jurgen Klopp referred to what happened on May 30th, 2015 in Berlin. Dieter Hecking's unforgettable Wolfsburg conquered the DFB Pokal by beating Borussia Dortmund 1-3 with goals from Luiz Gustavo, Bas Dost... and Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian was instrumental in the team's success as they overturned Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's early goal.
Finally, the former Liverpool boss mentioned Sadio Mane. He acknowledged the opportunity he had to sign the Senegalese in the Bundesliga, but rectified by bringing him to Anfield from Southampton in 2016. “I don't think there's much point in regretting things. You probably did the best thing at the time, so deal with it,” he reflected.
