Joaquín is into the final year of his contract at Betis, so his contract renewal is a big talking point in Seville. However, the player is 39 years-old and unfazed for the time being.
"I'm not worried, the important thing is that the team continues to succeed and win. That will bring good things. I feel lucky to play for Betis", acknowledged the player in an interview with 'Radio Sevilla', although he has advised his bosses that he hopes to keep playing for the team.
On the other hand, the veteran welcomed Manuel Pellegrini's arrival: "He could easily have said no. If he came, he must have seen the potential for growth and knew where we are headed".
"When he signed and called me, I was happy to have a manager of his standard at Betis. He has clear ideas and is a good man manager. I think that matters and he is a good coach all round", he concluded.
