Gabriel Jesus left Manchester City because he no longer wanted to play for Pep Guardiola, as he said in an interview published by 'ESPN Brasil'.
The 25-year-old Brazilian has made a sensational start at the Emirates since manager Mikel Arteta, Guardiola's former assistant at the Etihad, introduced him as Arsenal's top summer signing.
He has scored four goals and provided three assists in his first seven Premier League games for the Gunners, that's the tally for Gabriel Jesus, who said: "I was very happy at Manchester City, it's not like I was unhappy there".
"But I also had to accept the way the team wanted me to play.... The issue was the way he (Guardiola) understood football and what he wanted," he explained, before adding: "In this case, it's up to you to accept it or not. If you don't accept it, then 'thank you' and let's go for another challenge.
The former City man acknowledged that he accepted it "for a while". "I accepted it, but then I got to the point where I said: 'I want something more for myself'. I thanked him... he understood and that's it," added the Brazil international.
Jesus was unhappy with the playing time Guardiola gave him and left City when the Sky Blues signed Erling Haaland and Argentine youngster Julian Alvarez.
"Here at Arsenal it's different, the football is different, there are different players, different ways of playing. At City it was different, the striker didn't touch the ball much, you just have to watch the games to realise that," he concluded.
