Ipswich eye up managers who buy into club philosophy

Evans is striving to find a suitable candidate for the position by the beginning of June. The Ipswich boss gave his first interview to the club website since he became owner over ten years ago.

Mick McCarthy parted ways with the club earlier in the month, and Evans was frank regarding his process for finding a replacement.

He said: ''I am not going to pre-judge a manager. They could be young, they could be older, they could be experienced at winning promotion to the Premier League or not.''

''But overall I want to find someone that buys into the club's plans. And to be clear, that is based upon the five-point plan I announced a while ago and I feel brings Ipswich the best opportunity for promotion.''

He clarified: ''It includes bringing players through from the academy, developing a team to play attractive and exciting football, and achieving this within a competitive wage budget, which is going to be below many of the parachute clubs in our division.''

''It is going to take some time and I expect to make an appointment towards the end of May or early in June.''

Ipswich are occupying 14th spot in the Championship standings, and have not managed to break back into the top-tier since they were relegated back in 2002.
