Now the Euros have drawn to a close, the time has arrived to look toward the coming club season. Eriksen featured in the most shocking story early on in the tournament when he suffered a cardiac arrest in their opening match against Finland. Now questions are being raised about whether he will be able to play football again with Inter, or if he will be forced to hang up his boots.
According to information from 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', the club and the Danish international have set a date for next week. It will form the begninning of his decision regarding his future in the game, however before making it he will have take into account many different factors.
The aforementioned source informs that Inter have given the player a few more days off to rest. The meeting will take place next Monday 19th July in Milan, where Eriksen will be subject to a number of different and thorough tests that will reveal any long-term effects to his health.
Inter will control the medical exams via a team of specialists, among them Danish doctors, who will guide Eriksen once they know the results of the check up. However, it will be the player himself who will have the last word.
In addition, the Italian club are in permanent contact with the Denmark hospital where they attended to Eriksen right after the incident. They are aware of all of the tests that were taken and will inform the midfielder and his family of the situation once the existing information comes together with that from the upcoming exams.
The biggest worry is currently the defibrillator that was placed inside Eriksen at hospital to avoid a future collapse. Dutch international Daley Blind has something similar and has been able to continue his career, however in Italy there is a law that prohibits players from playing with one implanted.
Inter have given him their full confidence and have made themselves available for any step that Eriksen wants to take. At the same time, however, the club have covered their backs with the arrival of Calhanoglu from rivals Milan, just in case Eriksen will be unable to continue.
