Bad news for Chelsea. Benoit Badiashile, who joined the Blues in the January transfer window, has suffered a groin injury in a training session and the defender will have to undergo surgery.
The 22-year-old missed the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and, according to the 'Evening Standard', he could be out of action for four months.
The centre-back has played ten competitive matches for Frank Lampard's side and is unlikely to play again until next campaign.
In fact, the same media outlet reports that Badiashile "could miss the start of next season". Mauricio Pochettino, who is expected to take charge of Chelsea next term, will be without the Frenchman from the start.
Nevertheless, the English side have not yet made his injury official as he has yet to undergo further medical tests.
