"I would have stayed at Real if Zidane had asked me"

"I asked Zidane for advice and he told me it would be best if I left, especially with Lacazette leaving Lyon. If he had told me to stay I would definitely have listened to him," explained the former Real Madrid man.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fine start to life in Ligue 1, scoring eight goals in just 11 games so far this season and he sayys he is completely focused on being a success for his new side.
"If Real want to come back in for me then the clubs would have to discuss it. Real are a team that almost no-one would reject but I'm completely focused on Lyon and on winning our next few games," he explained.
When asked about his lack of game time in the Spanish capital last season, the Domincan said that he completely understood Zidane's decision: "At that point Real had just won the Champions League and had recently signed Alvaro Morata. We had a great strike force and we won two big titles. You could say that I didn't have many chances but I'm happy to have won the titles."
Finally, he said that he had not spoken with his former team-mates about their struggles this season: "I haven't talked to my former team-mates about how the team is doing. The last time I spoke with them was two weeks ago and at that point everything was going well and they were winning games but recently I haven't talked to them," he insisted.
