The Portuguese midfielder wants to stay with the Sky Blues at least until the end of his contract and then move to Benfica to finish his career.
"I've never hidden the fact that one day I want to come back, so of course I want to. Now, we'll see in time what's possible. It's not worth talking about this all the time because people get tired," the Portuguese told 'A Bola'.
Bernardo Silva put his feet on the ground and assured that, in the current market situation, he will not be able to come to his country until he finishes his contract, which ends in June 2026.
"Now there are contractual situations that have to be respected. Portuguese football cannot compete with English, Spanish or even German and French clubs. If I wanted to go to Benfica right now, it would be impossible because City are asking for a lot of money.
"In the last four or five years I have been valued at more than 50 million, and it is impossible for a Portuguese club to pay that amount. People have to be a bit realistic," he said.
Therefore, Bernardo Silva is clear that in order to join Benfica, he has to finish his contract first: "I think so, of course".
