"I told Owen he wouldn't play much at Madrid, but he didn't listen to me"

Ahead of the big clash between Liverpool and Manchester City, Reds legend Jamie Carragher took part in a chat on YouTube channel 'Football Nostalgia'. The former Merseyside defender spoke about the Cityzens threats and told a story about his time with Michael Owen.
"The midfield is a big problem for Liverpool now. They lack energy and intensity in the middle because of the age of their players, with Thiago, Henderson, Fabinho around or over 30. They need to sign two or three midfield players for next summer," he said.
He then turned the spotlight on the opposing Norwegian striker: "Stopping Haaland is the obvious thing to do. But stopping De Bruyne gives you a great opportunity to stop Haaland. De Bruyne is the best midfielder in the world and Liverpool will have to think about him.
Finally, he revealed the story when Madrid tried to sign Owen: "They called him and I was telling him to reject them. I didn't think he was going to play much if he went to Madrid, but he didn't listen to me".
