The defeat against Levante has left Real Madrid shaken. Despite this, Saturday's coach Bettoni assured that his team gave everything to try to get a good result.
"We stuck to our game, which was very complicated with ten players. I saw a Real Madrid with a lot of character and pride. They couldn't win the game and that's all," he told the press conference.
Despite the numerous interventions from VAR, Bettoni did not want to talk about controversy: "We don't give our opinion, it is there to see".
"It's a difficult defeat, especially because of what happened in the ninth minute. We took the lead, but Levante's equaliser put us down. Then we started the second half well, but the second goal hurt us. It's a painful defeat, but I saw a team with attitude and good character. I saw the team with the spirit to keep fighting until the end," added the second coach.
It was surprising that Bettoni took off Benzema in the last few minutes. "We changed at the end because we wanted to bring on Mariano. We don't look at who the top scorer is to make changes. We have a large squad. Mariano has a good aerial game and he's a fighter," he added.
The defeat could leave Real Madrid with fewer options for the league title: "The madridistas continue to grow. In the second half, ten against eleven, we pressed high and that's what we kept. I know that people who love Real Madrid want the same".
