Ahead of the semi-final against Italy, Jordi Alba joined Luis de la Fuente at the press conference. The defender is hopeful his team can beat the Italians, but he understands they are facing a team of quality.
Jordi Alba seemed satisfied with his return to the National Team: "I've been left out of the squad, fortunately or unfortunately. It's helped me mature and I'm back", he said, "I'm happy with my role in the squad, but I'm convinced that I can give more," he added.
Regarding his future, he said he was not worried by the uncertainty of having left Barcelona without knowing his team for next season: "That's not what's important right now, what I'm interested in is being able to win the title with Spain", he stated.
"Hopefully we can raise the trophy, I don't care if I'm captain or not. We need to be united to win it", he continued.
"Am I worried about being without a team? If I was worried, I wouldn't have made the decision before the end of the season," he declared.
And he clarified that he will choose the best destination regardless of whether it will influence him when it comes to being called up by Spain: "The decision I make does not depend on whether or not I can come to the National Team. It is something I have to decide together with my family. Being here is always special," he said.
The defender showed his support for De la Fuente: "The Federation chose him and we trust him. I see him calm. We players have to take a step forward. The coach is doing things right and we must not doubt. It is an opportunity for all of us to prove it, not just the coach. We are very happy with him and we have worked hard to be in this Final Four".
As for Italy, his opponent in the semis, he said they will be a complicated opponent. "It is a very good team. Defensively they work very well, but offensively they have taken a giant step. It won't be easy, but I'm convinced that we'll do things right. After that, you can win or lose."
