Flick backs Barcelona comeback: "I believe in my team"
Speaking before the quarter-final second leg, the German coach highlighted belief, unity and seizing key moments as the foundations for a potential comeback. "I believe in my team and that we can do it. Why not?" he said.
Flick praised Lamine Yamal, describing him as "the best in the world in one-on-one situations right now", but stressed the importance of collective play. "We need to play as a team. Individual brilliance is not enough. Both sides have great players, and these matches are decided by moments."
The Barcelona coach underlined how decisive details could shape the tie. "You have to take your chances. Cards, set pieces, small decisions... everything matters. Maybe this time those moments will fall our way."
He also pointed to mentality and the connection with supporters as key factors. "The bond between the fans and the players is incredible. That gives us strength. We must believe, and I see that belief in the team."
On the tactical side, Flick expects a demanding contest. "It will be a different match. The atmosphere will be intense, and Atletico are very dangerous, especially in attack. We must defend well but also be brave."
Flick also dismissed concerns about refereeing and emphasised his focus on performance. "We need to concentrate on playing well. If we do that, we can score and compete."
With a place in the semi-finals at stake, Barcelona head into the tie with belief, knowing that execution in key moments will determine whether their comeback becomes reality.
