Andrea Pirlo is living a period away from the big leagues and the hustle and bustle. In Turkey, he is at the helm of Fatih Karagumruk, a position from which he remains a more than qualified opinion on the the professionals who continue in the main leagues of the Old Continent. Asked about Carlo Ancelotti in 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', he praised him, but not without mentioning other professionals of equal merit.
"I worked with the best, learning from everyone. However, I think with my head, making a summary of all the experiences. Ancelotti, in terms of human and technical quality, has more victories than anyone else and in all the championships, but how can you rank him ahead of Lippi, Conte or Allegri? Specifically on Conte and Allegri, he added: "They are different. Good play or not, whoever wins is in charge.
Asked about Pep Guardiola, he said: "Pep is special, he always loves to innovate. However, football is becoming more and more physical and you have to keep up with everything. Maybe even for those who are less known. The Italians? Always at a high level. De Zerbi is also doing well in the Premier League, while the careers of Zanetti and Thiago Motta are interesting in Serie A".
Pirlo, in this conversation, also revealed that his club wants him to continue as coach, but that he would have no problem saying no to return home: "I've already been offered a renewal, but it's better to talk about it at the end of the season. If a top club like Juve calls you? I'm listening to some of the remaining directors and I'm also in contact with Andrea Agnelli. There is still mutual appreciation, but it's another thing if the plans have changed.
